Thieves Use Vent To Break Into Fort Worth Church
FORT WORTH -- Thieves broke into the Gospel Chapel Church in southeast Fort Worth late Thursday night. A piece of wood now covers the outside vent that the thieves used to gain entry to the building.

According to Pastor Robert Shed, the thieves opened the metal grate and crawled through the ventilation system in the ceiling. They then busted through the ceiling into the sanctuary below.

"I figure that it was somebody awfully small. It was a kid or something that they put up in there," said Shed. "But them thieves, they're very sharp. I mean, they can go places where we can't go."

Once inside, the thieves took a set of heavy speakers, an electric guitar and an amplifier. The back door was propped open when the pastor arrived, suggesting that the thieves planned to return for more.

Shed believes that several thieves were involved. The entire church is surrounded by metal fencing. The thieves would have needed to move the speakers over the fence to get them out of the church. Shed feels that there must have been someone on each side of the fence to get away with the heavy speakers.

If you saw anything, you're encouraged to call the Fort Worth Police Department.
